Five Simple Tips to Tableware Styling
Basic Table Setting
When setting up a table there are a few things to keep in mind. A table setting consists of a dining set, a cutlery set and glassware. The way you place every item should be easy and not necessarily systematic. Dinner plates sit in the centre with forks and spoon on the left. Glassware should be set to the right of the dinner plate.
Accessories
The really fun part of tableware styling is the accessories. There are plenty of ways to dress up the table for a whole range of events. You can add scented candles, flowers, ribbons and napkin rings. Invest in elegant dinnerware with different colours and patterns. It is a good way to start and make the table shine.
Table cloth
For a special occasion, make sure to add a white table cloth to your tableware styling. It is a good idea to do so as it will prevent spillages and give a neat overall look. A table cloth should fall at least a foot below the top of the table and no less than 15cm above the ground.
Placemats
You can add a new dimension to your tableware styling by putting placemats in the front of each chair. These will be used for the dinner/ iftar party.
Napkins
You can choose between paper napkins or cotton ones. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to how to place napkins. But we recommend folding them and placing them in the centre of the dinner plate.
